New DAB+ radio stations in Plymouth

Plymouth

Broadcasting regulator Ofcom has granted a license to the Radio Exe-led group from Devon to launch a new digital radio network in Plymouth, England.

This means that Plymouth and the surrounding area will be able to receive up to 25 new stations on DAB+. Broadcasting regulator Ofcom is offering the service nationwide and asked interested groups to make a formal application last year.

The applicants will be able to install two transmitters that will reach approximately 250,000 listeners around Plymouth, West Devon and South East Cornwall.

New stations like Community station Phonic FM or Hospital Radio Plymouth will start broadcasting in DAB+. In addition, Radio Exe, which is already available in DAB+ will have a better sound quality and it plans to launch different spin-off stations.
