DAB+ radio arrives in the south-east of Occitania

TDF

Thursday, March 9, TDF officializes the deployment of digital radio in Montpellier, Nîmes and Perpignan.

In total, more than 60 digital radio services have been launched by TDF. In each of the urban areas of Montpellier, Nîmes and Perpignan, the population can receive up to 26 radio stations in digital DAB+ quality (grouped into two DAB+ multiplexes) via TDF transmitters.

TDF is starting up DAB+ broadcasting at its sites in Montpellier-Bionne (Hérault), Nîmes-Capitelles (Gard), Perpignan-Cabestany (Pyrénées-Orientales), Ille-sur-Têt (Pyrénées-Orientales) and Villefranche-de-Conflent (Pyrénées-Orientales).

To enable these radios to be broadcast in DAB+, TDF's teams carried out new technical installations. This work consisted of installing a new antenna system, a multiplexing cell and an associated transmitter. Work to adapt the infrastructure was also carried out.

As an industrial player, TDF is leading the project from start to finish: the antenna systems were designed by TDF's expertise center located near Rennes, and the antenna housing structures by TDF's expertise center located in Toulouse.
