DAB+ is one of the winners of the German radio study MA 2023 Audio 1. Distribution via DAB+ is gaining in importance, while online audio is losing slightly.

DAB+ radio is listened to by 28.5% of the population in the so-called wider audience (WHK) (ma 2022 Audio II: 27.0%) and is disproportionately used in the 30-59 age group (WHK: 32.0% - ma 2022 Audio II: 30.1%).

In Bavaria, private radio stations and public broadcasters have relied on DAB+ for years. This is also reflected in a new record: 38.6% of the population aged 14 and over in Bavaria has listened to radio via DAB+ in the last four weeks.

In addition to the national channels Deutschlandfunk, Deutschlandfunk Kultur and Deutschlandfunk Nova, as well as the regional ARD offerings, many private broadcasters are enjoying renewed growth thanks to DAB+. With their digital broadcasting channels, they address national and regional target groups that are not covered by conventional FM programs. This also applies to the member companies of Digitalradio Deutschland e.V., e.g. Absolut Radio (Antenne Deutschland), Sunshine Live, 8080s Radio and Radio Bob! (Regiocast) and in particular the programs RTL Radio Brocken and 89.0 RTL.

The survey by Media Analyse Audio (ma Audio) is based on a sample of about 70,000 people. The study provides convergent information about radio usage in Germany. The data was collected from December 2021 to March 2022 and from September to December 2022.
