Pyrénées FM will have new DAB+ transmitters

Pyrenees FM

Recently, Pyrénées FM celebrated its arrival in DAB+ in the Pyrénées-Orientales, during a reception organized in the salons of the Palais des Congrès in Perpignan. This was a way of reminding people of Pyrénées FM's enthusiasm for digital radio technology, which will open two additional transmitters in Pau and Bayonne...

In his speech, the president and founder Jean Clergue expressed his interest in the development of DAB radio and affirmed his desire to promote this new technology. Pyrénées FM, already present in DAB+ in the cities of Toulouse and Perpignan, will soon open two additional transmitters in Pau and Bayonne. In addition, there are 12 FM frequencies in the Pyrenees. The station wants to expand its area in the central Pyrenees, and fill in several shadow areas. In full development, Pyrénées FM, which will soon celebrate its 20th anniversary, is reinforcing its on-air, editorial and promotion team by creating four new jobs.

For better comfort, the radio has just doubled the surface of its Toulouse premises, adding two production studios. Recently, a new look and new jingles have also appeared on the air. Pyrénées FM wants to play more than ever its role of proximity, "always reaching out a microphone" for Jean Clergue, "it is not enough to hear the radio, you must also see it".

Around many personalities

Among the many personalities present at the launch, the radio station was able to count on the presence of Louis Aliot (mayor of the city and departmental councillor of the Pyrénées-Orientales) and Laurent Gauze (president of the CCI and vice-president of Perpignan Métropole). TDF, the historical broadcaster of Pyrénées FM, was also represented by Jérôme Hirigoyen. Also present was the engineer Daniel Fortier, a pioneer in the reduction of television and radio shadow zones in the high cantons of Cerdagne and Capcir.

A DAB+ receiver from Normandy Pyrenees FM

Nearly 70 people participated in this event, despite the transport difficulties caused by the social movements.

Among them the Normand group, manufacturer of DAB+ radio receivers, partner of Pyrénées FM, for the distribution of receivers in supermarkets, under the brand Normand - Pyrénées FM. Arcom was represented by Antoine Tabard, General Secretary of the Toulouse territorial delegation.

Throughout the day, more than 15 guests followed each other live to the microphones of the journalists and hosts of the station from the OB van positioned on the parking lot of the Palais des Congrès in Perpignan.
