Their aim is to persuade the UK Government to protect digital terrestrial radio and television until at least 2040.

Leading UK organizations have joined the Broadcast 2040+ campaign to protect traditional television and radio.
Under current government policy, broadcasting services are only guaranteed until the early 2030s.
The Broadcast 2040+ campaign brings together a coalition of voices including Age UK, the Digital Poverty Alliance, the Campaign to End Loneliness and the Local TV Network (LTVN)

Pressure is mounting on the government to protect digital terrestrial television (more commonly known as Freeview) and airtime radio services. A coalition of groups calling for the protection of these vital services has grown significantly in recent weeks, with a number of leading UK organizations.

The Broadcast 2040+ campaign, which urges the government to guarantee access to Freeview and radio services, now has 30 members. New coalition partners include the Digital Poverty Alliance, an organization committed to supporting those living without or with very minimal access to the Internet
, and Campaign to End Loneliness, a network of organizations that help lonely people reconnect with their communities, and the UK National Federation of the Blind.
Organizations from the broadcasting sector also signed up, including the Local TV Network (LTVN), which represents 34 local TV services, World DAB, the global industry forum for digital radio, and Together TV - the free community-focused channel.

The Broadcast 2040+ campaign has one key demand: that the UK government publicly commit to protecting television and radio at least until 2040. Under current government policy, these services are only guaranteed until the early 2030s. The campaign believes that lack of certainty about the long-term future of broadcasting services is likely to have a negative impact on the millions of people who rely heavily on them.
