Italy and Poland extend their DAB+ coverage.
The recent installation of new multiplexes has enabled Italy and Poland to improve their national DAB+ coverage.

Italy

Italian radio consortium Radio Digitale Piemonte has decided to improve coverage in the Canavese region, a subalpine geographical and historical area in northwest Italy within the metropolitan city of Turin in Piedmont.

The consortium has commissioned a new DAB+ multiplex facility in Andrate, around 50 km north of Turin. It operates on Block 5B, linking the Colle della Maddalena and La Morra facilities.

Radio Digitale Piemonte currently includes Amica Radio, Hot Block Radio, Radio 5 Solo Musica Italiana, Radio Alba Viva, Radio Beckwith Evangelica, Radio Bruno, Radio Canelli Monferrato, Radio City, Radio Dora, Radio Frejus, Radio Gold, Radio Mater Nord, Radio Piemonte Sound, Radio Vallebelbo National Sanremo, Radio Viva, Radio 60-70-80 and Tele Radio Savigliano.

Poland

The extension of Polish radio's DAB+ multiplex has begun with four new multiplex installations. These are Jelenia Gora, Rabka, Trzebnica and Zakopane.

The broadcast for Kielce residents has been moved from Targowa Street to the CE chimney. This is a higher transmitter, so the range of this multiplex should be greater. The change of multiplex operator took place in Lodz. The pSN Infrastruktura spot was taken over by Emitel, which also transmits from the antenna system above. In Gora, near Srem, the transmitter power was increased from 8.5 to 19 kW.

According to the draft charter of obligations submitted by Polish radio to the National Broadcasting Council, from October 1, 2021, over 80% of the Polish population should be covered by DAB+. In terms of area coverage, the target was 61.5%. At the same time, the technical coverage of Polish radio in the DAB+ system prior to the October extension stood at 44% of the Polish surface area. Public radio stations reached around 67% of potential beneficiaries (over 25 million inhabitants).
