DAB +: Digital radio continues to be rolled out across France

The roll-out of DAB+ - digital radio over the airwaves - is accelerating in mainland France. On 12 October 2021, 25 stations (6 public and 19 private) will be available in DAB+ on the Paris-Lyon-Marseille route and all the towns along this motorway route. BFM Business, Chérie FM, Europe 1, FIP, France Culture, France Info, France Inter, France Musique, Fun Radio, Latina, Mouv', M Radio, Nostalgie, NRJ, Radio Classique, Rire et Chansons, RFM, RMC, RTL, RTL 2, Skyrock and Virgin Radio will be available on DAB+ from 12 October.

In addition to these national radio stations, there are three new programmes available only on DAB+: Air Zen, Skyrock Klassiks and BFM Radio. This date will also mark the arrival for the first time of a digital radio offering in Avignon, Dijon and Toulon1.

The start of national DAB+ antennas on the Paris-Lyon-Marseille axis and its 2,000 km of road and motorway network is a significant step in the deployment of digital radio and thus represents a major advance in the modernisation of the radio medium. By 2022, 50% of the French population will be covered by DAB+. Radio, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, is resolutely looking to the future thanks to DAB+.
