Ebook on DAB+. WorldDAB has published a new ebook in French: "Mise en place du DAB+". This is the new French translation of the ebook "Establishing DAB+ Digital Broadcast Radio". This book is a unique and detailed guide to the regulatory, technical and commercial aspects of DAB+ implementation. It has also been published to mark World Radio Day.

As DAB+ in France reaches 60% coverage of the metropolitan population in the coming weeks, and interest in DAB+ by other French-speaking countries increases, WorldDAB publishes its first ebook in French: "Mise en place du DAB+ - la radiodiffusion numérique".

The 118-page publication, which can be downloaded free of charge from the WorldDAB website, is a French translation of the ebook "Establishing DAB+ Digital Broadcast Radio". This book is a unique, in-depth guide to the regulatory, technical and commercial aspects of deploying the new broadcast standard.

The ebook was published on World Radio Day, February 13. It provides guidance for territories considering adopting DAB+, such as those in Africa and Asia-Pacific, as well as advice for countries that have already started the process and those approaching permanent service status.

WorldDAB President Jacqueline Bierhorst said, "With the current rollout of DAB+ in mainland France and many countries exploring the digital future of radio, we know the time is right to provide guidance in French on how to establish DAB+. Thanks to the ebook, WorldDAB offers a springboard for learning from experts around the world who share the best cases and experiences."

The book covers the entire DAB+ implementation process, from initial interest to analog switch-off. Topics covered include the seven major stages of deployment: (1) initial interest; (2) technical demonstrations; (3) formal standards adoption and regulation, including coverage requirements and frequency planning; (4) systems planning and design, both for transmission network design and multiplex networks; (5) deployment activities, including construction, content, receivers and launch marketing; (6) operations, including ongoing content development and sustained marketing campaigns; and finally (7) analog switch-off.
